ZHANG WEIWEI

Prof. Zhang Weiwei is a leading Chinese thinker, a distinguished Professor of international relations at Fudan University in Shanghai. He serves as Director of the China Institute at Fudan University, one of China’s prominent platforms for research on governance, development and global affairs. He is a board member of China’s National Think Tanks Council, Chairman of the Chunqiu Institute, and Editor-in-Chief of the academic magazine Dongfang Journal.

He is widely known for his work on China’s political system, the “China model” and the concept of China as a “civilizational state.” Beyond academia, he is a prominent public intellectual and media commentator in China.

Before his academic career, he worked as an English interpreter for Chinese leaders, including Deng Xiaoping, which gave him first-hand exposure to China’s reform era.
