Daniel L. Davis

Daniel L. Davis is a retired United States Army lieutenant colonel, combat veteran and foreign-policy analyst with extensive experience in military operations and national security affairs. Over 21 years of active service, he completed four combat deployments: Operation Desert Storm in 1991, Iraq in 2009 and two tours in Afghanistan, in 2005 and 2011. His decorations include two Bronze Star Medals, one awarded for valor during the Battle of 73 Easting, a major armored engagement of the Gulf War.

Davis came to wider public attention in 2012 after offering an independent assessment of the military situation in Afghanistan that differed from the prevailing official narrative. His intervention, based on field observations and conversations with military personnel, earned him the 2012 Ridenhour Prize for Truth-Telling.

Since retiring from the military, Davis has focused on warfare, national security and the strategic consequences of US foreign policy. He currently serves as a Senior Fellow and Military Expert at Defense Priorities, specializing in land warfare, combat planning, military operations and strategic analysis. Davis is also the author of The Eleventh Hour in 2020 America and the host of Daniel Davis Deep Dive. Through his articles, broadcasts and interviews, he regularly contributes to international debates on armed conflicts, defence policy and geopolitics.
