Michael VON DER SCHULENBURG

Michael von der Schulenburg is a German diplomat, politician, and former senior United Nations official, widely recognized for his long career in international peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and diplomacy. His work has focused particularly on peace negotiations, post-conflict reconstruction, international security, and the role of multilateral institutions in a changing global order. Currently, von der Schulenburg is a Member of the European Parliament.

Over the course of more than three decades, von der Schulenburg served in United Nations peace and development missions around the world, including in Haiti, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, and Sierra Leone. He also served at the rank of Assistant Secretary-General in the UN Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, and later as the Executive Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Sierra Leone.
