Roger Köppel

Roger Köppel is a Swiss journalist, publisher, media entrepreneur, and former politician. He is the owner, publisher, and editor-in-chief of Die Weltwoche, one of Switzerland’s leading political weekly magazines.

Köppel studied political philosophy and economic history at the University of Zurich. He began his journalistic career at the Neue Zürcher Zeitung and later worked for the Tages-Anzeiger, where he became editor-in-chief of its weekend magazine. In 2001, he was appointed editor-in-chief of Die Weltwoche. From 2004 to 2006, he served as editor-in-chief of the German daily newspaper Die Welt in Berlin before returning to Switzerland and taking ownership of Die Weltwoche.

Alongside his career in journalism, Köppel served as a member of the Swiss National Council from 2015 to 2023, representing the Swiss People’s Party (SVP), and was a member of the National Council’s Foreign Affairs Committee. Through his journalism, interviews, and public commentary, he has become a prominent voice in debates on Swiss sovereignty, direct democracy, European politics, neutrality, and international affairs.
