Serdar Yurtçiçek

Serdar Yurtçiçek is a Research Associate Professor at the Shanghai Academy of Global Governance and Area Studies (SAGGAS), Shanghai International Studies University, China. He is also a Visiting Scholar at the Center for Asian Studies, Koç University, Istanbul, Türkiye.

His research focuses on Turkish diplomatic history, Sino-Turkish relations, and transnational politics in Central Asia, drawing primarily on declassified Turkish diplomatic archives. His main research interests include Sino–Turkish intellectual and diplomatic history, Republican-era Chinese intellectual history, twentieth-century Turkish foreign policy, Central Asian politics, and the transnational and international history of the early Cold War.

His recent work has appeared in journals such as Journal of Contemporary History, Central Asian Survey, The International History Review, Modern Asian Studies, Journal of Balkan and Near Eastern Studies, Diplomacy & Statecraft, and Asian Affairs.

In terms of editorial experience, he has served as Managing Editor of Global Geopolitics since February 2025. Previously, from January 2019 to October 2023, he was Editor of Belt and Road Initiative Quarterly.

Professionally, he has been the China Representative of Harici Media (Istanbul, Türkiye) since December 2022.
